The Brief
Cumbrian Motorhome Hire approached us to ask if we could take on their website. The immediate issue was fix the contact and booking forms. We also had to make it more mobile friendly. Whilst this might seem easy, from a technical perspective there were a few things to worry about! The site was also very out of date and running insecure code.
The Solution
We were quickly able to restore a backup of the site onto our own hosting, fix the forms, improve the reliability of email delivery and go live with a working version of the site. Then the real work began.
PHP and WordPress were upgraded and redundant functionality removed. We added extra security, and changed the theme to a responsive one so that it is mobile friendly. The old site had no Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Adding extra content and metadata helped to improve this. The gallery now uses lightbox and is interactive.
We added a new calendar – WP Booking System – because the old one is shutting down at the end of the year. Search Console was added to the site, so that search data can be analysed. Analytics already existed.
Finally, the menu was given a refresh to make the Book button more prominent.
The Completed Site
The new site is fast, responsive and secure – like all our sites. The branding was retained to keep the look and feel consistent. And a lightweight and fast theme, together with page caching means that the new site loads in milliseconds. SEO rankings and security scores are also much improved. We are proud to have delivered a great WordPress website design for our newest business in Cumbria.
