The Situation

Coniston Launch approached us to see if we could take an existing test website and put it live for them. There were various challenges that needed to be overcome, and some extra development to make it ready.

The Solution

The first step was to secure a code backup of the site. We were then able to review the code, and provide a quote for the migration work. A ‘staging’ site was set up so we could update the site. Booking buttons were made bolder and more eye catching. They also linked to a new booking system. We built some secure forms for the employees to log data, and updated the contact form to be GDPR compliant and use google recaptcha to prevent spam submission.

Additional security mechanisms to prevent against brute force attacks, and security headers were added to the site. And a simple whole of site translation function was added to cater for the many international visitors.

Putting the site live involved ensuring that redirects from the old site, and random google search results pointing to old pages, were set up. An additional domain which handles email also needed to be reconfigured to ensure emails continued to work.

To minimise disruption on the day, and allow for thorough testing, the site was put into maintenance mode, with a prominent booking button and contact details available. This allowed us to thoroughly test all the functionality before opening it up to the public.
