Crookwath Cottage new home page

The Brief

Crookwath Cottage needed a website refresh. The old site worked fine, but was looking a little dated, and needed content updates. Our brief was to deliver a more modern looking website, ensure all redirects from the old site were in place to preserve SEO rankings, and to assist the client with the migration of the domain from the old web developer to themselves.

The Solution

The client was very clear on the desired look and feel, based on a traditional country cottage colour scheme. So the first step was to explore various colour combinations and designs for the main page. The logo then had to be tweaked to match the new design.

Once we were happy with the mocked up design and fonts, work proceeded to migrate the content to the new site. New photos were required, and a little restructuring of the site was put in place. Because the site incorporates various 3rd party cookies (YouTube, Vimeo and Kuula) we used the Complianz cookie control plugin to automatically block those until accepted. This is a really neat way of controlling cookies in a GDPR compliant way if you are loading in a lot of 3rd party content.

The old site used holidayrentalmanagement.com calendar integration, and it was important to continue with this solution to minimise business disruption and risk.
